Happy Friday to All!
The doctors couldn’t penetrate the vein in the right leg so the procedure was not done today. They have decided to have Tom rest for the weekend while continuing the heavy duty blood thinners. They will re-evaluate on Monday. They might try to go in behind the knee on the right leg instead of through the lower abdomen area. They are also bringing in a new tool that other hospitals have used, but it’s never been used at Alexian Brothers to kind of “roto root” the veins. (Bonnie’s term). They might try this on Monday.
He has also been given 2 more pints of blood today. Bonnie said on the upside he is no where near in as much pain as past days. Bonnie brought Tom a special treat for lunch. Steak n Shake!
Tom is going to remain in the special unit at least until Monday so no cell or laptop access. It should be an uneventful weekend for them so I probably won’t post again until Monday.
